In what can only be described as shitty, it appears that director Edgar Wright has left Ant-Man, Marvel announced on Friday. While they claim that this will not affect the release date of the film, it will affect the film itself, as Wright is one of the most imaginative and respected directors working today. This is especially shocking as Wright has been attached to Ant-Man since 2006 – pre-dating even the release of the first Marvel Studios film, Iron Man. Wright also co-wrote the screenplay for the film.

There is no official press release yet, but you can find the statement from Variety below, and you can find a bunch of Multiversity staffers drowning their sorrows in their local pubs.

“Marvel and Wright parted ways “due to differences in their vision of the film,” the company and director said in a statement.

The decision to move on is amicable, they added, and does not impact the release date on July 17, 2015. The film had originally been dated for Nov. 6, 2015.”
