This is hot off the presses – Edgar Wright quite literally just tweeted a link to this image and I can say wholeheartedly that it gets me very, very excited. It looks like it features Gideon (Jason Schwartzman) in the background, so in many ways this is his de facto first appearance if we’re using comic terms. The real story is two fold here for me: Michael Cera capturing the look of Scott Pilgrim and the kinetic feel of the shot. A lot of people questioned whether or not the movie could capture the lively feel of the comics. To me, this is an early check mark to the affirmative.
Early buzz from directors that have seen parts (or all) of this state that Scott Pilgrim vs. The World will be a game changer of a comic movie. I’ve thought it would be from the beginning, and that image really tells me we’re all correct.
Well, and the image is just insanely badass. Seriously, look at it again. How great is that picture? Flaming sword! Flipping! Gideon! Yes!
