Some people were worried that Scott Pilgrim‘s apparent lack of success in theaters might hurt future comic movies of smaller characters/books. Others are annoyed that Ant-Man and the Wasp aren’t in the Avengers film by Joss Whedon. Well, Edgar Wright is here to tell you it’s going to be “much cooler than you think.”
Over at Vanity Fair, Edgar Wright had a chat with an interviewer who believed that Ant-Man was “like Aqua Man with lower self-esteem.” During the interview, Wright noted that his first draft was done and he’d be working on a second draft now that Scott Pilgrim is done. Wright describes the film by saying “It’s essentially a high-tech spy heist film with somebody with a very particular power.” He hopes to remove the stigma of “shrink films” in which characters get shrunk down and are instantly threatened by making Ant-Man somewhat of a secret agent.
What connection this will have to the Marvel Avengers film franchise I do not know. I’ve heard rumor that the movie will actually follow Eric O’Grady and not Hank Pym, but it’s all hearsay until we see the film, especially when Wright mentions Tales to Astonish from the the 60’s. Look for more on this film in the future as Scott Pilgrim‘s momentum dies down.
