Via The Hollywood Reporter, next year, Z2 will add another icon to their line of musician biographies. “Elvis: The Graphic Novel” will detail the King of Rock & Roll’s life, starting from his early days in Memphis. The book will be written by Chris Miskiewicz, who previously worked with Z2 on “Grateful Dead: Origins,” with art by Michael Shelfer (Marvel’s “Domino”). The book will be produced in conjunction with Presley’s estate and Authentic Brands Group, making it the first official Elvis graphic novel.
“Elvis is one of the most universally celebrated names in entertainment,” Z2 publisher Josh Frankel says in a statement. “Much like The Beatles, his name transcends music itself as one of the larger than life figures in the history of entertainment. Our hope is to make this graphic novel an origin story for Elvis fans akin to what Alan Moore’s ‘Whatever Happened To the Man of Tomorrow’ is for the Son of Krypton.”
“Elvis: The Graphic Novel” is scheduled for release on August 11, 2021, and the book is available for preorder on Z2’s website.
In addition to hardcover and softcover editions, the publisher is also offering a limited “Blue Suede” edition, with vinyl picture discs and exclusive prints from artists Chris Hunt and Erik Rodriguez. A limited (only 300 copies) “Super Deluxe” edition, handsigned by the creators, is also available on the website for $299.99, though Z2 is offering a $28/month payment plan.
