Entire Walking Dead Writing Staff Let Go For Season 2

In a bit of unprecedented and largely surprising news, many sources are reporting that Frank Darabont himself has laid off the entire writing staff of the critically acclaimed, “highest grossing show in AMC history” The Walking Dead as it moves into its second season. According to Darabont, he intends for Season 2 to be envisioned entirely by non-union, freelance writers. It should be noted that of the six episodes that make up Season 1, only two were written by the assembled writing staff, with Darabont himself writing the first two, Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman writing one and established freelance writer Glenn Mazarra handling another. So the impact of this move may prove to be minimal in the long run as, presumably, Darabont and Kirkman are not going anywhere.

More on this as it develops.
