Dark Horse Press Release

The ever-eccentric Eric Powell has tapped acclaimed Beasts of Burden writer Evan Dorkin to scribe an upcoming issue of The Goon!

This isn’t the first time the Milk and Cheese creator has written for one of Dark Horse’s most well-known antiheroes. Last fall saw the release of the Beasts of Burden/Hellboy one-shot, which was met with rave reviews around the web. Comic Book Resources stated, “Strictly from a plotting sense, Dorkin brings the goods to the comic. It’s carefully thought out, each new plot beat building on the previous events and letting the amount of danger build and grow.”

“I tried to put as much intentionally funny stupid shit as possible into #35, starting with my fascination with old sideshows, and tossing in homage’s to the movies Freaks and Brigadoon, a touch of E.C. Comics grotesquerie, a tip of the hat to Richard Layman, and a big, steaming heap of the old ultra-violence, Goon-style. I can’t wait to see this damned thing hit the stands, I hope it knocks somebody’s goddamned eye out.” – Evan Dorkin

Goon and Franky stumble upon a bizarre freak show at Brigadoon’s Dreamland Carnival, where the evil barker pits the Goon against a horrendous, bacon-eating behemoth, the Ten-in-One!

The Goon #35 arrives on sale August 31!

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
