Talk about creating a healthy dose of internet buzz, eh?
Two more pictures have arrived on the ‘net, this time starring everyone’s favorite Magneto (above) and Professor X (below) as they are to be portrayed by their new actors, Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy respectively. The above shot gives us the first look at Magneto’s ever so famous helmet (which he constructs as a way to keep Xavier out of his head) and the below show gives us our first look at Xavier actually using his power. The below shot actually comes out to be the stronger of the two, because with it you get a much clearer sense of McAvoy as Xavier, and the similarities in facial features between him and Patrick Stewart become a little more apparent. The above picture, while making Fassbender look like a badass, does look a tad odd due to the size of the helmet – but considering how awesome Fassbender is, it’s safe to put your trust in him (I swear).
Furthermore, as reported at Bleeding Cool via Slashfilm, director Matthew Vaughan promises that the odd suit that Magneto is wearing is not a permanent one, saying that they are “hardly” in the movie. He also confirms that the cast image that sent out did not come from the Fox camp, but that it is legit and quite confusing as to where it came from (I hope this doesn’t mean another Wolverine leak around the corner…)
Either way, enjoy the images. The film is busting out stills for us now, and with the (now 5) official shots we have and a teaser trailer assumedly on the way, things are looking good for the mutants.
