Everyone Is An Avenger

A little while back we posted images from the Weekly Crisis and their internet meme involving putting random characters onto the “I Am An Avenger” placecards Marvel had been using. It was funny, and we called the post “Everyone Is An Avenger.”

Little did we know that apparently everyone will be an Avenger, as today the fourth (and hopefully final) Avengers book was announced with Avengers Academy from writer Christos Gage and artist Mike McKone. While this has been all but confirmed for months now, it’s still surprising to see yet another Avengers book just because of the enormous amount of them. The character they announced is either an entirely new one or someone I’m not familiar with, as Veil is not exactly someone I was clamoring to get an Avengers membership card.

Still, Gage is a high quality writer that has been praised by Matt and I in the past (mostly for his non-Marvel/DC work however), and McKone is a very capable artist that likely would fit the style of this book very well. Whether or not I pick it up is another story. We’re getting to the point where I no longer suffer from “event fatigue” but “Avengers fatigue.”

Avengers Academy launches this June.
