Beginning this April, “Ironheart” writer Eve Ewing and artist Joey Vazquez (“Daughters of the Dragon”) will revive the classic comic book series “Marvel Team-Up.” The first three-issue arc of the series will see Spider-Man and Ms. Marvel team-up after a scientific demonstration at Empire State University goes wrong.
“Marvel Team-Up” was originally published from March 1972 through February 1985, regularly teaming-up Peter Parker/Spider-Man with other Marvel heroes, and it has had multiple revivals, including an Ultimate version. Additional art released by Marvel, depicting Kamala Khan with Captain Marvel and America, Gwen Stacy/Ghost-Spider, Deadpool, Daredevil and Rocket Raccoon as well as Peter Parker, indicates the new volume will center her instead.
At Marvel.com, Ewing commented “I love that they [Spider-Man and Ms. Marvel] are both hometown heroes — people who are deeply rooted in where they’re from. For this story, their age difference and cultural differences are going to matter a bit. Pete was definitely very similar to Kamala once upon a time, but now he’s, you know, a grown dude. His situation with Kamala is going to force him to put himself in the mind of a teen again in some unexpected ways, and Kamala is going to have to get into the head of an adult who has been in the game a lot longer than she has.”
