Dark Horse Comics have announced two all-ages titles, both illustrated by Portland-based writer/artist Cassie Anderson, and set to be released later this year. The first book, “Extraordinary: A Story of an Ordinary Princess,” will be the first print edition of her webcomic “Ordinary Princess.” It follows Princess Basil on her quest to become more than ordinary in a world where everyone else is extraordinary. When she finds the fairy godmother who granted her the gift of ordinariness, Princess Basil finds the answers to her questions are much more complicated than they appear. The original webcomic was inspired by the 1980 children’s novel The Ordinary Princess by M.M. Kaye. “Extraordinary: A Story of an Ordinary Princess” is set for release July 24, 2019.

The second book announced is “Lifeformed Vol. 2: Hearts and Minds.” Written by Matt Mair Lowery, this book serves as a sequel to Anderson and Lowery’s “Lifeformed: Cleo Makes Contact,” and follows Cleo and a rebel alien posing as her father as they fight against the alien invaders. “Lifeformed Vol. 2: Hearts and Minds” is a 200-page middle-grade trade paperback, and is set for release September 4, 2019.

Both books will be available for purchase through Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and local comic shops.
