Writer Brian Azzarello (“Batman: Damned,” “Wonder Woman”) and artist Maria Llovet (“Loud”) are launching a new “erotic supernatural thriller” at BOOM! Studios. The series, titled “Faithless,” will follow a young woman named Faith as she begins dabbling in the “dark arts” out of boredom – and eventually attracts the attention of Hell itself.

“[Brian and Maria have created] an honest, nuanced portrayal of female identity in a modern world that holds women to contradictory — if not adversarial — standards of simply existing,” BOOM! Executive Editor Sierra Hahn declared in a statement provided to The Hollywood Reporter. “[‘Faithless’ is] a resonant examination of what it means to be your true self in a world that asks us to assume false identities to better suit those around us, instead of asking those same people to embrace our hidden depths.”

According to the Reporter, “Faithless” will feature standard covers by Paul Pope (“Battling Boy,” “Batman: Year 100”), as well as polybagged, sexually explicit variants from a rotating stable of artists, with Tula Lotay (“All-Star Batman”) providing the first variant. You can see Pope’s first cover, as well as censored preview pages from “Faithless”‘s first issue, over at The Hollywood Reporter.

“Faithless” releases in comic shops and online April 10.
