Firefly to Finally Return — Though Not How You Expect It To

You know what we’re always clamoring for and talking about? More Firefly. It’s, like, the thing us nerds all pretty much universally want in one way or another. Whether it be comics, movies, a new show, whatever — we just want to see more of Firefly.

So, what if I told you that Firefly was “coming back” — and that you could be a part of it?

Because that’s what is happening.

From Qmx, Spark Plug Games and Fox Digital Entertainment, Firefly Online will be an online mobile-based game in which you are put into the world of Firefly to pilot your own ship of miscreants and ruffians and lovable Western folk heroes. A “social online role-playing game,” the game is set to launch next year and oh my gosh I don’t know about you guys but I am fuh-reeeeaking out a little bit!

Fox Online’s big mobile game at the moment is, for those unawares, The Simpsons: Tapped Out, in which Springfield is nuked and you have to rebuild it. It’s one of the most successful iOS apps of all time where money is concerned, as fans feverishly folk over dollar after dollar for donuts (literally) that allow you to purchase new characters in game.

And that’s the Simpsons, a show that’s still on the air. Imagine what is in store for Firefly?

Keep up with the game at KeepFlying.com and register now. I’ll see the rest of you Browncoats soon in the digi-stars.

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
