Well, there you have it. Thanks to a nice viral chase this morning, the first image from the Dark Knight Rises has been revealed, and it’s Tom Hardy as Bane. While it’s not a very clear shot, and we don’t even get a full look at the mask here, it’s still the first bit of what I can only assume is a long line of viral teases – just like with the previous film.
So how does it work? Warner launched thedarkknightrises.com today, which at first is nothing more than a black screen and a spot of odd chanting. However, because this is the internet and this is how these things go, a fan figured out that if you run a spectral analysis of the chanting, you get a hash tag for twitter: #thefirerises. If you tweet this, your twitter avatar appears at a new site where the avatars begin to form a shape. And, because this is the internet and this is how these things go, the final image has been cracked before the twitter image could be completed. Fun!
