At CBR, DC Comics have announced “Flash Forward,” a new series starting this September from writer Scott Lobdell, artist Brett Booth, and inker Norm Rapmund. The comic stars The Flash/Wally West, and forges a new path for the character after the traumatic events of Tom King and Clay Mann’s “Heroes in Crisis.”

The comic continues the recent dramatic turn of events for West, who was erased from DC’s continuity after the 2011 ‘New 52’ reboot, until his return in 2016’s “DC Rebirth.” The character was believed to have been killed off-panel at the start of King and Mann’s maxiseries last year, only to be revealed as having accidentally perpetrated the massacre that kicked off the series, and the subsequent attempts to frame Booster Gold and Harley Quinn. West was last seen at the end of the series being imprisoned by the Justice League for his crimes, a sad end to his lengthy superhero career – until now. Per the synopsis:

His name is Wally West—and he was the Fastest Man Alive. That is, until the Multiverse was rewritten without him or his family in it. Wally returned and tried to make it work, but the damage was done. Spinning out of the events of HEROES IN CRISIS, follow the man who called himself Flash on an adventure to find redemption in a cosmos that has fought so hard to destroy him.

“Flash Forward” #1 will be released on September 18, 2019.
