Vertigo’s Graphic Content blog this morning finally confirmed what Grant Morrison let loose at SDCC 2010 – Flex Mentallo will indeed by collected for the first time this year.

While it’s not coming out until the ambiguous date of “fall”, Flex Mentallo has oft been one of the most discussed Morrison books since its original debut, if only for the fact it had never been collected. Featuring an incredibly memorable team-up with Quitely, Flex Mentallo spun out of Morrison’s work on Doom Patrol and became one of the writer’s most personal works to date, with its single issues going for somewhat insane prices on eBay and in collector’s shops (our very own David once reported that he found the four issue mini for $40 per issue).

The book will contain some bonus material and be one of DC’s Deluxe hardcovers. For those of you that have one or two of those, you know that the page sizes are rather larger than normal. With a WE3 Deluxe coming out this year as well (available now for pre-order on Amazon for a June release), the two hardcovers will look exceedingly snazzy next to your JLA Deluxe and Absolute All-Star Superman collections. You know, assuming you have those.

Either way, for those of us who have been waiting a long time to read this book – three cheers for Vertigo!

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
