Welcome back! It’s Friday and just about “closing time” at the Multiversity “offices,” which means it’s time to wrap up everything we did this past week in a nice concise post.

I should note we still do have a couple things coming out this weekend, but I don’t expect the majority of you to see that until the work week starts. Never the less, with new Saturday Showdown content from the Alaskan powerhouse duo of Harper and Burpee (sounds like a brewing company), why wouldn’t you come back on the weekend?

Click behind the cut for all the fun we’ve had this past week!

  • Start your week off right with a Smallville review, brought to you by Gil. It’s got Zatanna/Serinda Swan in it. Need I say more?
  • The second first Saturday Showdown went live in it’s new format. Be sure to look for drinking, comic nerdery, Parallax, and Alaskans.
  • As I am known to do, my weekly movie round-up popped up on the internet, providing you with all the awesome hot gossip that went down during the week. Spoiler alert: the one coming out this weekend is not as good.
  • Burpee returns to Burpee’s Got You Covered, now with less HTML errors! Thank the heavens!
  • Monday saw the release of our interview with the team behind the Unwritten, Mike Carey and Peter Gross, conducted by David. Lots of awesome informative stuff in there.
  • Marvel announced that they were expanding the Astonishing line come May, just in time for the Heroic Age. This came with an odd new X-Men uniform and the world’s greatest budcom.
  • Thanos is returning. Better get caught up on Marvel Cosmic U now, before it’s too late.
  • Our newbie Jordan posted a recap of Toy Fair 2010. If you like Galactus, you’ll love this.
  • Our Atomic Robo vol 4-centric interview with Brian Clevinger went live. It’s both informative for new fans as well as intriguing for old ones. Bottom line? Buy Robo.
  • The (what I am assuming is) final teaser for Second Coming went live. All will unite except Gambit, apparently.
  • There is this awesome looking book on shelves in comic stores every time I go in one that I always mean to pick up but for whatever reason never do called Flight, right? Yeah, well, it’s ending. Time to go start reading!
  • Walter comes in with a review of J Michael Stracyznski’s famous Supreme Power. If you haven’t read it already, this will pretty much convince you to.
  • David the casting rumors for the Walking Dead TV show. Odd choices, but good actors none the less.
  • In honor of Warren Ellis’ birthday, we gave you a Small Press Spotlight of No Hero. It’s insane. You’ll love it.
  • The 2010 Glyph Awards Nominess have been released. Somehow, Luke Cage Noir made the cut. I have no idea why.
  • James Patterson (one of those guys who writes comic books without pictures) is looking to start writing comic books. Considering the popularity of the novels he currently writes, they will be ported over at IDW for new readers to get in.
  • As always, we give you a list of what’s coming out. It’s the least we can do. Honest.
  • Zuda Weekly continues with an interview, this time with Bobby and Peter Timony, the team behind the Night Owls. For those looking to get into a new online web series, now would be the time.
  • David takes a quick look back at Daredevil: Born Again, in which Frank Miller raves about how David Mazzuchelli should be making comics of his own. Hmm….
  • The first comic directly related to a translation of the Dark Tower has been announced. It’s no surprise to anyone that Peter David is the writer, but the big news is that Sean Philips of Sleeper and Criminal will be doing the art. I can’t think of a better reason to buy the title now.
  • The official Greg Land variant to Avengers #1 has come online, to little enthusiasm from MC. That is, for everyone except me. I don’t know why, but bowling balls in arms don’t really bother me. I could just be reminiscing to Ultimate Fantastic Four though.Continued below

  • Internet superstar Crit Obara returns to us with a look at this week’s LOST episode. As always, it’s the best one you can find on the internet.
  • Our weekly comic reviews went live, with everyone pulling double duty as Brandon is off in Hawaii. What a jerk!
  • Completely out of the blue and to everyone’s surprise, DC announced the new executives of DC Entertainment, with Jim Lee and Geoff Johns taking up new and exciting roles within the company. We also rounded up the various commentary made by said creators as to their new positions. It was exciting!
  • We posted Top Cow’s upcoming May 2010 solicits. Some sweet stuff in there. Did you see the new additions to Pilot Season? I’m so excited.
  • Brandon decided to take a moment out from being in Hawaii to discuss digital comics. Meanwhile, in cold snowy Boston, I scowled and ranted like an old man about how books will always be better. What do you think?
  • Jordan posted our first controversial Friday Recommendation of Our World’s At War.
  • We told you (not asked, told) to help out web comic artist Emi Lenox of Emitown as she announced she would be doing sketches for donations. I eagerly anticipate the arrival of my sketch.
  • We showed a preview of Top Cow’s Broken Trinity, coming soon to a comic book store near you.
  • David posted the list of this week’s best selling graphic novels and trades from the New York Times. He has ulterior motives to doing this, of course… but the reason is not to be revealed. Yet.

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
