Well, that sure was something, huh?
Ever since Marvel revealed the first poster for Daredevil and it’s premiere date on Netflix as May 10, I’ve been waiting patiently for our first glimpse at the series. Debuting exclusively over at IGN is our first look at the series and oh boy. I’ve been waiting a long time for Marvel to finally realise that Daredevil works best in serialisation and to forge a market in using popular, established superheroes of theirs to corner the TV market (sorry, Agents Of SHIELD). Watching that trailer, I am not disappointed.
This is our first look at Charlie Cox in action as Matt Murdock and, briefly, as the vigilante who be known as Daredevil and, from what we see, I think he nails it. The show is clearly tracing it’s roots back to the Frank Miller/John Romita Jr. origin story “The Man Without Fear” and while I’d have personally gone with Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale’s “Yellow”, they’ve nailed the noir aesthetic that Miller popularised with the character.
We also get to see brief glimpses of Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page (who has been arrested seemingly? interesting), Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple and, most importantly, Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk. Just look at the imposing figure that guy cuts in only one shot.
This is gonna be good.
