Marvel have announced Gail Simone is returning to the company to write a ongoing comic book starring the mutant mercenary Domino, which starts this April. No artist was announced, though “Weapon X” penciler Greg Land and colorist Frank D’Armata created the cover for the first issue.

For those unfamiliar, Domino (real name Neena Thurman) is an assassin with the mutant ability to control probability, and as such is nicknamed “Lady Luck.” She was created by Fabian Nicieza and Rob Liefeld for March 1992’s “X-Force” #8, and has starred in two limited series in 1997 and 2003, the latter of which was created by Joe Pruett and Brian Stelfreeze. In the new series, she will find herself hunted by the rest of the Marvel Universe’s mercenary community, including “the man who hates her more than anything.”

Simone previously wrote Domino’s most popular ally “Deadpool” in 2002; her last work for Marvel were the “Marvelous Adventures of Gus Beezer” one-shots teaming the titular kid with Spider-Man, the Hulk and the X-Men in 2004. Simone said, “My favorite characters are always the unpredictable ones, and with Domino, you literally never know which way the dice are going to roll. I love her, and I can’t wait to show her best bad side!”

“Domino” #1 is out April 11.
