By now, I would assume that everyone knows the name Garth Ennis. He is the author of a FANTASTIC series called Preacher and the current writer of a very warped superhero tale, the Boys. Now, starting in February, Ennis launches his brand new on-going: Jennifer Blood on Dynamite, with “no announced artist yet” according to the press release.
According to news reported over at Newsarama, Jennifer Blood is a suburban mother who is a sweetheart by day, but a vigilante by night. The press release reads, “Every day she makes breakfast, takes the kids to school, cleans the house, naps for an hour or two, makes dinner, puts the kids to bed, and kisses her husband goodnight. At night she goes down to the secret compartment in the basement, tools up with all manner of high-powered weaponry, goes downtown and kills bad guys by the dozen- then comes home to her family.” The book will be in diary form, and Ennis claims it’ll be less dark and gritty with more emphasis on “dark fun” throughout.
Now – a while ago, we brought to attention that Ennis had mentioned he would be working with Adriano Batista, and the demo art we saw featured a Femme Fatale similar to Blood. It is perhaps safe to say that Batista will be the series’ artist. Either way, look for this book come February, and be sure to check out the press release here.
