In March of next year, DC’s popular Geoff Johns-penned Justice League will see a few changes, as revealed at DC’s The Source.
For starters, the book will launch into the “modern” era of the DCnU, with the Justice League fully formed. As the battle against Darkseid wraps up in issue #6, the book will find the League looking for a few new members. The story will serve as a prelude to the next major arc of the book entitled “The Villain’s Journey”, which starts at issue #9 and sees Jim Lee returning to the title.
Did we say “returning?” That’s right — we forgot to mention that issue #7 is going to be illustrated by Gene Ha, not Lee. Ha recently did a brief fill-in stint over at Action Comics for part of the third issue, and will be taking over art duties for the seventh issue of Justice League while Jim Lee assumedly refuels for the next bombastic storyline.
This issue will also see the beginning of the Shazam back-up, written by Johns and illustrated by Gary Frank, so you can probably assume that the main story will last twenty or so pages with the back-up at eight to continue to justify the $3.99 price tag.
No word on who the fill-in artist for the 8th issue will be yet, but for a two-page preview of the seventh issue to show you what Gene Ha plans to do, take a look after the cut.
