Zombies are big right now. Probably bigger than ever before, when you think about it. Zombies are so big right now not only is there a hit TV show based on a zombie comic, but it’s getting a spinoff. But that’s not what I’m here to talk about. Remember those teasers for a George A. Romero comic coming to Marvel? Well, we finally have some details for you. Like a title! And an artist! Revealed over at USA Today the series, which is now a 15 issue miniseries, will be titled “Empire Of The Dead” and will be based on what would have been the screenplay for Romero’s next movie. The film would have been set in New York, but Romero has said that that would be too expensive to film and so if you have a story set in New York, you go to Marvel to see it through, right?

The series, debuting in January, will feature art from Alex Maleev. So, we’re already taking bets on when we’ll see the last issue. Also, it seems like Romero will have something to announce at NYCC. Which is next weekend, so watch this space for that announcement. In the meantime, be sure to check out USA Today for more information on the series.

Alice W. Castle

Sworn to protect a world that hates and fears her, Alice W. Castle is a trans femme writing about comics. All things considered, it’s going surprisingly well. Ask her about the unproduced Superman films of 1990 - 2006. She can be found on various corners of the internet, but most frequently on Twitter: @alicewcastle
