Announced over on Vertigo’s blog, it’s been revealed that fan favorite and critical darling “American Vampire” from Scott Snyder and Rafael Albuquerque will be officially returning in March of next year. Apparently called “Cycle 2” (according to the file name on Vertigo’s site) and picking up with Skinner and Pearl in the 1960’s, little is known about what the return of the series will bring other than general teases from Albuquerque and Snyder that the book will be awesome — which is to be expected. Mostly because the first run of “American Vampire” was awesome.
In terms of being informative, there is very little else to say. However, I will note this: if you haven’t read “American Vampire,” you should probably rectify this. Honestly, I tend to think that vampires are one of the least entertaining horror staple villains, but I’ll happily read “AmVamp” in any incarnation until the end of time. Snyder and Albuquerque really sell the book, with sharp attention to timely details and impeccably animated and vibrant artwork. Reading the book is like drinking a fine scotch while listening to a blues record on your porch in the heat of summer, and it’s certainly not a series to miss.
Plus, as is always important to note, these vampires don’t fucking sparkle. Always a plus.
