BOOM! Studios “Freelancers” has yet to see it’s first issue debut yet, but we hear some exciting things about it through the grapevine. Starring two girls who grew up in a Kung Fu Orphanage that have taken up the profession of bounty hunting, the book sounds like a bit of a mix of 70’s exploitation films geared to a modern and more aware audience, especially when you take into consideration the impromptu lampoon of DC’s controversial “Catwoman” #0 cover.

While the first issue will see it’s actual debut later this month, BOOM! has given us the opportunity to sufficiently whet your appetite with the covers to the conclusion of the first arc. Feast your eyes:

Check out the official solicit below:

Author(s): Ian Brill
Artist(s):  Joshua Covey
Cover Artist(s): A: Reilly Brown B: Drew Johnson

The wild and crazy first arc of the breakout hit series comes to its thrilling conclusion! Val and Cass’ hunt for their missing man (and the rest of their payday) has led them back to the Kung Fu Orphange where they built their bonds and learned how to break bones. Now, they will learn secrets about the dojo that should have stayed buried… Oh, and that missing man? He’s back & ready to kick their butts. Another round of fire from Ian Brill & Joshua Covey!

Look for the issues in January of next year, and for “Freelancers” #1 to hit stands everywhere soon for but a meager $1.

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
