At ComicBook.com, Dark Horse Comics have announced a four-issue God of War series starting in November. Written by Chris Roberson (“iZombie, “Witchfinger”) with art by Tony Parker (“Mayday”) and colorist Dan Jackson (“Buffy the Vampire Slayer”), the “God of War” comic follows Kratos between the events of the original trilogy and this year’s video game. The official synopsis states:

The “God of War” comic series finds Kratos living in the remote Norse Wilds after his war on the gods of Olympus. Seeking to put the rage that defined most of his life behind him, Kratos inadvertently sparks a feud with a mysterious cult of berserkers after attempting to save a stranger being mauled by a monstrous bear. But for the former Ghost of Sparta, no good deed goes unpunished.

Kratos previously starred in a 2010 miniseries, written by Marv Wolfman and illustrated by Andrea Sorrentino, and published by WildStorm and DC after the release of God of War 3. However, that comic took place after the events of the original game, delving into the anger-prone god’s childhood. This comic will show what happened next after Kratos slew his father Zeus, though it is unknown whether it will depict his meeting with Faye, and the birth of their son Atreus.

“God of War” #1 will be released on November 14th.
