On October 15th, 1905, Winsor McCay’s “Little Nemo in Slumberland” debuted in the New York Herald, telling the surreal and entertaining adventures of a young boy as he traveled through a magical dreamscape.

On October 15th, 2012, Google made a wonderful Google Doodle that, if you haven’t checked out yet, you absolutely need to. To say any more might just take away the fun of it all.

On a side note, last week on the Hour Cosmic, I noted that I had found a collection of the complete strips of “Little Nemo in Slumberland” in a local bookstore, used but for less than the average price on Amazon. While the price is steep, should you ever find the opportunity to pick up such a collection, you absolutely should.

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
