Grant Morrison Redefines How You Probably Look At “The Killing Joke” [Video]

From his appearance on Fatman on Batman with Kevin Smith, Grant Morrison discussed quite a bit about his love of Batman and took the listeners through his entire run on “Batman” — where it came from, his favorite issues and more.

But one kernel of knowledge dropped that has been making the rounds on the internets to shocks and gasps is this clip, in which Kevin Smith and Grant Morrison discuss Alan Moore and Brian Bolland’s classic “The Killing Joke” and redefine everything you thought you knew about it (most likely):

I’ll refrain from writing about their discussion as you should really just hear Morrison speak about it, but I’ll at least note: I had never thought of it that way before, and wow. DC has essentially conditioned us to treat a story that was never quite meant as canon to be canon (with Barbara’s life-changing interaction with the Joker became part of the narrative of the ongoing Bat-sagas) that it’s easy to see how certain aspects could be lost in translation over time.

But that Morrison. He’ll sneak up on you with his Bat-knowledge.

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
