Via ComicBook.com, Dark Horse Comics have announced “The Great British Bump-Off,” a four-part murder mystery by “Giant Days” writer John Allison and artist Max Sarin, plus colorist Sammy Borras and letterer Jim Campbell. As implied by the title, which riffs on the hit TV series The Great British Bake Off, the comic imagines an Agatha Christie-style plot in the world of competitive baking.
“I’ve made a lot of comics, I’ve read a lot of mysteries, and I’ve eaten a lot of cakes,” Allison told the site. “You might say that I’ve been preparing for this series since I tasted my first fondant fancy. And as I’m working with Max and Sammy again, readers can be assured that the confection will look as good as it tastes.”
Allison and Sarin worked together on “Giant Days” for most of its run at BOOM! Studios from 2015 to 2019. Since then, the pair have worked together on the spin-off “Wicked Things,” and the digital exclusive “Steeple” one-shot “Steeple: Reverend in Love!” Borras, who is the colorist on the “Steeple” webcomic, worked with both of them on the aforementioned special.
“The Great British Bump-Off” #1 will be released in April, with a main cover by Sarin and a variant by Dan Hipp. In the meantime, you can head to ComicBook.com for a full look at both of them, and a two-page preview.
