Green Lantern: Rise Of The Manhunters Sets Almost Unfair Expectations

The upcoming Green Lantern (movie tie-in) videogame got a trailer this week, as seen above. Featuring a 3D Ryan Reynolds and Mark Strong, as well as Kilowog, the three battle the rebellious Manhunters that the Guardians had to put down so long ago. Fans will certainly recognize the story of the Manhunters, the creations of the Guardians to help monitor and police the universe before the creation of the Green Lantern Corps. However, a malfunction caused them to go awry, completely annihilating a sector and forcing the Guardians’ hand.

Of course, those who aren’t learned scholars of the Green Lantern mythos will also notice that this is a completely bad ass cinematic, and Sinestro’s green minigun of will literally kills. It looks like DC might have a second winning videogame franchise on their hands with this. Batman: Arkham Asylum obviously set gamer expectations, but this trailer certainly delivers. Here’s to crossed fingers that the game itself does too.

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
