Harley Quinn Picks Her Artist For Her Series

With DC’s upcoming “Harley Quinn” #0, they’re trying something a bit new in which a bevvy of talented artist including Paul Pope and Bruce Timm will illustrate a single page of the issue as if they were trying out for the series as the lead artist. The idea is that in character, Harley will review and pick the artist she deems most worthy of her new ongoing, and according to DC Comics she’s already done it: Chad Hardin.

Hardin is an incredibly talented artist, having worked for DC on a number of titles now from their “Reign In Hell” mini or the first “Spirit” revival after Cooke left the book. I primarily know his work from BOOM!’s “The Traveler” with Mark Waid, and although it has been a while I remember it looking quite solid overall. In fact, a quick Goolge search of Hardin’s art will probably reaffirm this, as it’s rather clear why a book co-written by Amanda Conner (whose cover for issue #1 is seen above) would pick an artist like Hardin; the similarities in style towards her facial expressions (below) and his general body work are rather apparent.

Take a peek at what you can expect:

Of course, odds are you might be a bit iffy on the “Harley Quinn” book after the whole ordeal with DC offering up a scene of her contemplating suicide while naked in a bath from late yesterday, but clearly DC is banking on you looking past their shortcomings overall. I mean, otherwise how would you explain Villain’s Month, right?

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
