Haha! Article titles! They’re fun, aren’t they?

So, Image Comics released this fun new book by Joe Casey and Piotr Kowalski called “SEX,” which Eric Stephenson (aptly) describes as “Batman” meets “Fifty Shades of Grey.” It’s a fun book, it’s a little bit dirty in all the ways you think it is and it’s the start of a series that is sure to punch a great big hole into all your favorite superhero tropes (a hole which, honestly, may end up getting a bit sexed afterwards – that’s just what this book seems capable of).

Oh, yeah, and it is not allowed to be in Comixology because of sexually explicit content.

It’s a bit funny; comic books are rather violent, and even gratuitous in their violence. It’s not so long ago that “Kick-Ass 2” featured a bunch of children gunned down by a sociopath, which is “ok”, and since the rape sequence in that book happened off-camera, no one minds. Heck, it works for DC and “Identity Crisis!” But show some ladies getting very visibly intimate while a guy watches? No sir.

So for those of you who want a digital copy of “Sex,” it would appear you’re out of luck. But thankfully for you, Image Comics isn’t having that, and has explained how you can get your digital copy of “Sex” should you not want a physical one. (At this point in the article, I am resisting making a joke about buying a copy and then not being able to open the pages due to it getting sticky. Wait, no I’m not.)

If you’re looking for a digital copy of the comic, you can find one in iBooks (which is a bit funny since you can’t get it in Comixology or the Image comic app) or you can download it directly from Image, and then sync it to whatever tablet device you may have. Who says there are no good ways to pay for “Sex” on the internet?

All jokes aside, “Sex” is a pretty great read. It comes recommended from me, for what it’s worth. Whether you get it physically or digitally, you should get yourself some “Sex.” Here’s the pitch:

SEX tells the story of what happens when Simon Cooke, formerly known as the Saint, Saturn City’s greatest hero, discovers what it is like to live not as an icon, but as person. After years of keeping himself at a distance from society, Simon finds himself ill-equipped for the tasks of a “normal” life, like running a business and navigating relationships – including with women, whom he’d stayed away from in his decade as a costumed vigilante.

“Sex” #2 comes out April 2nd.

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
