Hawkeye and Mocking Bird Gear Up For a New Series

As if we needed further confirmation, there you have it folks! Clint Barton returns with furious force to his role as Hawkeye, and his lovely beau Mockingbird joins him for a new on-going duo series for the two. This is not the first time this has happened, but there relationship has been a bit rocky for quite some time. Throw in a death or two and a Secret Invasion as well as costume/identity changes and we’ve got one rocky relationship there.

However, those that have been paying attention remember a little book called New Avengers: The Reunion, where writer Jim McCann and artist David Lopez brought the two lovebirds back together to restart their relationship from scratch. We haven’t gotten to see a lot of them in action since then, so I must say it’s nice to have the two definitely having their relationship fleshed out, as well as exploring all the loose ends from the Reunion, i.e. the WCA. The first arc will also bring back the villain the Phantom Raider, for those interested. While I can’t necessarily argue as to if you should buy it or not, I will say that Marvel really is getting ready to unleash a whole slew of new books!

Hawkeye and Mockingbird #1 hits stores in June with the first part of the story really hitting in the Enter the Heroic Age one-shot in May, and you better believe one of us will be reviewing that (most likely me). For the full interview with McCann, check out Newsarama.

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
