For those who’ve been reading Green Lantern for a while now, you’ll remember that Hector Hammond is one of the villains Johns attempted to revitalize with his run. However, despite an initial role in the beginning, Hammond has fallen to the wayside and hasn’t been seen in Green Lantern until a brief moment during Blackest Night (and, as a note, he has also been in the Magog on-going). Well, for those wondering what happened to him as well as Parallax, it looks like we’re about to see something pretty creepy in Green Lantern #53.

DCU’s The Source posted a new a preview of the issue, and it’s definitely worth checking out:

Written by GEOFF JOHNS; Art and cover by DOUG MAHNKE and CHRISTIAN ALAMY ; 1:25 Variant cover by RODOLFO MIGLIARI

A BRIGHTEST DAY tie-in! Exploding out of BLACKEST NIGHT comes the next exciting chapter in the Green Lantern mythos: “New Guardians”! Forced together during the rise of the Black Lanterns, Hal Jordan, Sinestro, Carol Ferris, Saint Walker, Atrocitus, Indigo-1 and Larfleeze must agree to disagree if their next mission is to succeed. But when one of the strangest beings from Green Lantern’s past returns, the future of the Lanterns and the universe at large once again falls into question.

So much for the Brightest Day being so bright, huh? The book comes out this week at $2.99. Keep your eyes open for a review from one of us on it on Thursday!

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
