Ahead of San Diego Comic Con, where Hellboy made his debut appearance 25 years ago, Mike Mignola and Dark Horse have announced two new series and a one-shot, all due later this year.

The first of the three titles, “Crimson Lotus” will star the titular Lotus, the arch nemesis of Lobster Johnson. Longtime Mignola co-writer John Arcudi, who left “B.P.R.D.” with the end of the ‘Hell on Earth’ saga, returns to co-write this miniseries, with art by Mindy Lee (“Bounty”).

The second title will be the next in the line of “Hellboy and the B.P.R.D.” series, this time focusing on 1956. Co-written by Chris Roberson and illustrated by Yishan Li (“Convergence: Blue Beetle”), Mike Norton (“Battlepug,” “Revival”), and Michael Avon Oeming (“Powers,” “Cave Carson Has a Cybernetic Eye”), the series will also feature Varvara.

Finally, the “Hellboy Winter Special” returns for another installment, featuring a Mignola/Ben Stenbeck story, the first Fabio Moon/Gabriel Ba “B.P.R.D.: Vampire” story since 2013, and a Tonci Zonjic written/illustrated Lobster Johnson story.

The solicitations and covers, revealed exclusively by Nerdist, are as follows:

Before she became Lobster Johnson’s biggest foe, the Crimson Lotus was a young girl whose family was caught up in the Russo-Japanese war. Pressure is mounting within the bureau to uncover the Soviets’ secret plans, but a suspicious cover-up leads one agent off the radar in search of answers. Meanwhile, demonic Soviet occult leader Varvara pushes her team to follow her own whims, and Hellboy is sent on the mission that would lead to his infamous misadventures in Mexico. But even more clandestine plots are at work—both inside the B.P.R.D. and out. Three different storylines are interwoven in this espionage saga.

Mike Mignola and Duncan Fegredo’s “Giant Robot Hellboy” wraps up with a bang (or should I say boom?) in this final issue as we finally meet the true titular character.
