For those who haven’t yet heard about the unfortunate tale of Mike Meyer yet, Mike is a 48 year old man living in Granite City who has been on Social Security for mental disability since the age of 23. Mike lives alone in a two-bedroom home with his two dogs, and has worked at a McDonald’s since 1996. His main hobby is his Superman collection, with items dating back to the 1950s from every possible collector’s item imaginable: lunch boxes, radios, a Monopoly set, comics, toys – you name it.

And some asshole looted it.

Mike met with an old co-worker named Gary recently at a comic store in Granite City, and upon hearing of Mike’s collection, Gary falsely befriended Mike and took advantage of him, using the opportunity to steal somewhere between $4-5,000 dollars worth of collectibles.

This is where the Internet comes in. Rick over at His Name Is Studd and Greg Hatcher over at Comics Should Be Good are calling for fans of Superman and generally good people to send Mike Superman-related well wishes, in the form of cards, sketches, doodles, or all of the above. Please send any and all things to:

Mike Meyer c/o Bill Smith
7041 Kingsbury Blvd.
St. Louis, Mo. 63130

Rick reports that the police know the identity of the thief and hope to recover some if not all of the missing collection. However, it’s still the thought that counts.

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
