While you may not instantly recognize the name, Oliver Nome is a talented and established freelancing artist who has worked for DC/Wildstorm (such as “Flashpoint: Kid Flash” and issues of “Superman/Batman”) and Aspen (“Kiani”), and is one of the artists who worked on the DC Universe Online videogame. He’s a talented guy, but unfortunately as revealed on a recent blog on Deviant Art, he has recently been diagnosed with a brain tumor for which he needs surgery.

Being a freelance artist, he currently does not have health insurance, though, so this is where the comic community can step up and help him out. If you are able, check out Comic Art House or More Great Art to buy some of his original art or contact his art dealer Mike Alexander directly at Mga1wars@aol.com or mikethegreek@comicarthouse.com as well as Bob Shaw at Comic Art House at bob@comicarthouse.com. You can also check out his DeviantArt section of art specifically for sale and be sure to check his DeviantArt blog for more information if you wish to donate some money.

We wish nothing but the best of recoveries for Oliver. Here are a few of his pieces:

Thanks to Kristin Boucher for the heads up.

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
