Oh, we so totally called it! While Marvel has not put out the official confirmation or any additional teasers, Diamond let the big news slip: a new Heroes for Hire book is on it’s way.

As you can see via Diamond’s October Previews preview, one of the notable December titles is Heros for Hire #1. No additional details on this yet, but it does give a hint at maybe what “kinda sorta” happens at the end of Shadowland, considering we’ve seen Elektra and Falcon on our teasers and it’s all pretty nicely timed. It’s also interesting to note that there will be a Power Man and Iron Fist mini written by Fred Van Lente, who described his characters as “heroes for hire.”

It should be very interesting to see how this plays out. The original Heroes for Hire consisted of both Iron Fist and Luke Cage, but Cage seems tied up with the Thunderbolts and New Avengers at the moment. Putting him in a third team might wear him out a bit I’d think. In a conversation I had the other day, I was reminded that Iron Fist bought their old HQ and mentioned to Cage that they should get back to doing what they do best (issue #16). Perhaps now is that time.

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
