Heroes For Hire Officially Announced

And lo, a new super team ongoing was born!

Well, we all figured this one out pretty quickly, but Marvel has given us the first official team, and it’s Shadowland-errific! Featuring Moon Knight, Iron Fist, Ghost Rider, Elektra, and the Punisher – all who have starring roles in Shadowland – the teaser announces that the book will debut in December. Of course, Paladin, Misty Knight, and Falcon are missing from this teaser… but I’m going to guess that this team won’t stay with this line-up for very long. This is kind of like an anti-hero team, and I can’t imagine Ghost Rider, Elektra and the Punisher will stick around on a team very long.

It also seems that Iron Fist and Moon Knight can just not pick a team! Sorry, Avengers.

So the only question left is – who is writing? Zeb Wells was the last writer on the previous Heroes for Hire book, but despite my fingers crossed that he would get to continue writing Elektra, it looks like the cosmic champions Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning will be bringing this book out the launch gate – which, to be quite frank, is just as good. We still don’t know what’s going to happen in the Cosmic Marvel U post-Thanos Imperative, so as long as they’re on a team book with an odd dynamic, I’ll buy it. This will also mark the book’s third volume, with the book having initially started in 1996 and having another run in 2006 started by Palmiotti and Gray.

For more information, as well as an idea of what to expect from the duo, go to Marvel’s official announcement.

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
