Those of you who are long time readers of the site might remember our unabashed love for “Friends With Boys,” a graphic novel by Faith Erin Hicks serialized in its entirety online before being released through First Second (on sale now). Well, it looks like Hicks is back for another serialized interweb graphic novel, and she’s bringing Prudence Shen along for the ride!

Entitled “Nothing Can Possibly Go Wrong,” the comic is an adaptation of a young adult novel originally by Shen that was at first titled “Voted Most Likely.” As Hicks and Shen explain, the adaptation of the book began shortly after Hicks had finished “Friends With Boys,” when she was sent the original novel and decided that it had the potential for an adaptation.

Not convinced by Hicks’ name alone? (For shame). Well, maybe this plot summary will help entice you:

You wouldn’t expect Nate and Charlie to be friends. Charlie’s the laid-back captain of the basketball team, and Nate is the neurotic, scheming president of the robotics club. But they are friends, however unlikely – until Nate declares war on the cheerleaders, and the cheerleaders retaliate by making Charlie their figure-head in the ugliest class election campaign the school as ever seen. At stake? Student group funding that will either cover a robotics competition or new cheerleading uniforms – but not both.

It’s only going to get worse: after both parties are stripped of their funding on grounds of abominable misbehavior, the robotics club joins forces with the cheerleaders in an alliance from hell. Funded by the cheerleaders, Nate enrolls the club’s robot in a battle-bot competition in a desperate bid for prize money.

Bad sportsmanship? Sure. Chainsaws? Why not! Nothing can possibly go wrong.

Check out the first twenty pages online right now, and be sure to bookmark the site and check back every day for updates. The book will be released upon finishing it’s serialization through First Second in finer comic shops everywhere.

Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
