Dark Horse has announced a new miniseries for next year titled “Hidden Society,” co-written and illustrated by fan favorite Rafael Albuquerque and his regular writing partner Rafael Scavone. The comic is going to tell the story of the wizard Ulloo, who recruits a blind girl trainee and her pet demon, a magician, and a cursed bounty hunter to fight the Hidden Society’s nemesis, a mysterious force looking to annihilate all life.

The team has been working together for a couple of years now, with titles like “Hit-Girl in Rome,” the comic adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s “A Study in Emerald,” and backup stories in Scott Snyder’s “All-Star Batman,” but this is the first creator-owned project for the Brazilian duo.

The pair told Syfy Wire in an official statement that, after working on London’s 19th century in “A Study in Emerald,” they felt inspired to do another book in the past, and chose 1970s New York for its “decadence and violence.” They said the book would combine a “Scorsese flair” with “mysteries and magic, where complex characters have to team up and become the heroes those times needed.”

“Hidden Society” #1 and all its demons, monsters and magic will arrive in stands on February 26, 2020. In the meantime you can go to Syfy Wire and read their exclusive preview by clicking here.
