Announced exclusively at Comic Book Resources (but we’re sharing it with you here anyway), it looks like MC favorite Sam Humphries has a second book coming from BOOM! Studios in addition to Fanboys vs Zombies (which we shared exclusive art from yesterday), entitled Higher Earth.
Taking place in a universe of interconnected and alternate reality Earths, many of which are apparently governed by a singular empire, Higher Earths finds Humphries (and an as yet to be named artist, although the attached image to this post is by Frazer Irving) eschewing traditional ideas of space exploration and instead sees mankind branching out its reach throughout reality as opposed to the galaxy (with a nice quote from Solaris attached to the CBR interview).
The book will star “Heidi, a girl born in garbage” and “Rex, a soldier gone rogue” (pictured in Irving’s image) whose common denominator is a need for revenge, as they “want to chop and slice their way from the bottom to the top, through every Earth in the network, but for different reasons.” The the “main” Earth of the story is the aforementioned Higher Earth, which Humphries describes as “an omega-level civilization that sits at the center of over a hundred connected planets”, noting that the series ultimately opens itself up for infinite possibilities due to its infinite Earths.
(Although as comic fans, “infinite Earths” does sound eerily familiar — but we’ll ignore that for now.)
The ongoing begins in May, and the artist will assumedly be announced soon.
