IDW Publishing have announced a four-part crossover miniseries, “My Little Pony / Transformers,” from the creative team of writers James Asmus, Ian Flynn, and Sam Maggs, and artists Casey W. Coller, Jack Lawrence, Sara Pitre-Durocher, Priscilla Tramontano, and Tony Fleecs. Fleecs will also be providing the cover art for each issue.

The miniseries will see the evil Queen Chrysalis casting a spell to try and find changeling allies, but inadvertently interfering with a distant Cybertron Spacebridge, bringing the Autobots and Decepticons to Equestria. Twilight Sparkle, Optimus Prime, and more will have to work together to overcome the “menace of malevolent magic and machinery!”

Asmus described writing the series as “some of the most fun I’ve had in my career,” making it “pure joy to play them off each other,” with the crossover being a “wild mash-up unlike anything else in your comic collection.” Flynn highlighted the “delightful challenge” of “finding common threads between the ponies and bots,” and Maggs said “the idea of bringing the citizens of Equestria and Cybertron together is incredibly exciting.” IDW Editor-In-Chief John Barber stated that having a crossover between the two Hasbro properties “has been a dream we’ve had for a long time,” continuing, “We’re all really excited to see this mashup of characters by a mashup of creators who are honoring the legacy of both universes… and doing it in the most bonkers, fun way imaginable!”

“My Little Pony / Transformers” will be released weekly in May.
