During his panel at Long Beach Comic Con, Darwyn Cooke took some time to address the future of his Parker adaptations (a series we happen to absolutely love), revealing both the next title for adaptation as well as a treat for fans: there will be five Parker books total from him and IDW.

As covered by Comic Book Resources,

Future projects-wise, Cooke said he was continuing to adapt the “Parker” books and that the next one was one of his favorite of Westlake’s, “The Score.” Featuring a plot revolving around Parker and a group of thieves banding together to rob an entire town located in a box canyon, Cooke showed the audience the cover image with the silhouettes of Parker and his gang on a ridge overlooking the town.

“It’s nice, with Parker, that we’re past his problems with the Mafia, because now we get into the heists-proper and they’re more interesting. They’re a lot more fun for me,” Cooke said of the book, which is slated to come out sometime in the summer of 2012.

Cooke also made a note that he doesn’t think he’ll ever “stop doing Parker”, which could mean either a) that these books will take some time before seeing release and or b) there may be more after the five confirmed by IDW. Either way, we’ll take it all.

The two first Parker books, The Hunter and The Outfit are both available now, or you can pre-order the Martini edition, a giant-sized slipcase hardcover that is sure to make a wonderful Christmas gift to anyone you know that likes good things.

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
