Well now, what do we have here? Yesterday I posted an odd Image teaser, to which we knew nothing about and am skeptical about. I really can’t decide if Image is just making fun of Marvel here or legitimately getting ready to release a Guardians of the Globe book. Now I’m even MORE skeptical!
So let’s break it down: we once again have the Marvel parody teaser, this time featuring Spawn. Spawn (drawn by an artist still unknown to me because I really don’t think that’s Ottley) could be either Spawn at this point, though I’d lean towards it not being Al Simmons because Simmons is very much the evil Omega Spawn of Image United. The quote, “Todd lost a bet…”, is an obvious reference to the creator of Spawn, Todd McFarlane, and the “me” in the statement is told from the Spawn perspective.
So what is going on? Spawn on the Guardians of the Globe? Those that know the GotG know them from Invincible, where the team is already set, game and match with all original characters. This would make me guess that, IF this is real (and that’s a big if), the Guardians radically change post-Image United to be the first on-going total Image universe spanning book. Is it possible that other team members might include Witchblade, Savage Dragon, and this new character connecting the story? Only time will tell.
Although, I still feel like this is a joke of some kind.
