Image Comics have announced a new horror series called “Homesick Pilots” by writer Dan Watters and artist Caspar Wijngaard, who have previously collaborated on “Limbo,” and letterer Aditya Bidikar.

The series will follow Ami, Buzz and Rip, the Homesick Pilots, who are about to experience an “unforgettable summer as teens” as they venture into a haunted house together. In an interview with THR, Watters explained that “The haunted house is the human head,” adding, “It’s a container full of traumas and horrors and broken bits and pieces, and we muddle through it the very best we can. This book is about what happens when the ghosts escape the house — and how we can let them destroy us, or learn to walk with them. It’s also a book about running away from cops, fighting big monsters made of household goods, and whether the Ramones suck or not.

Wijngaard spoke about how the “Limbo” pair have wanted to reunite for a new project, describing “Homesick Pilots” as something “a little more personal, a story reflecting our teenage years,” and praising Bidikar’s lettering for bringing “a punky DIY authenticity” to the book with “his outstanding hand crafted lettering.”

“Homesick Pilots” #1 will be released in print and digitally on December 9.
