Image has now join other companies in the digital revolution to bring their own brand of iPad/iPhone app to the market in order to provide their customers with digital comics. Joining the ranks of Marvel, DC, and BOOM! Studios, Image definitely has a good footing to start in with their digital launch.

See, as part of the “regular” ComiXology app, several first issues of Image titles have now been available for quite some time. You can get great reads like The Walking Dead or Invincible #1, as well as plenty of other choice first issue comics. Now that Image is entering the arena with their own app to place their titles in, you can be assured that there will be much more comics available from those titles, as well as others. The app itself is designed by ComiXology, which follows suit of the other comic companies as well as giving ComiXology the foothold in the market.

Right now you can find plenty of good titles in the app, from Savage Dragon to Chew to Battle Pope. The company hopes to beef up it’s presence in the digital realm, supposedly including something from Image partners Robert Kirkman and Robert Liefeld. The app is also geared to uphold some of the standards Image has since it first began publishing, with the hopes of avoiding any digital royalty issues that other companies might have been having.

The app is online now, free of charge. Take a look if you’ve got an iPad, because if you have one and have any of the other companies’ apps, you’ll know that it looks absolutely gorgeous.

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
