Normally we few conventions as an annual thing for the most part. Sure, multiple conventions happen a year, but each usually just happens the once per year.
Well, Image is apparently saying eff that noise, because after the successful second annual Image Expo was held in July of this year, Image is bringing the noise and bringing the thunder back in January for the third Image Expo at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco.
Featuring Robert Kirkman, Matt Fraction, Rick Remender, Kelly Sue DeConnick, Brandon Graham and Marian Churchland among the guests, it’ll be an all-day event celebrating comics and the premiere house of ideas currently around in comics. With tickets on sale today for $20 and $50 premium tickets available (which comes with exclusives and preferred seating), I would probably recommend going.
Why? Well, last time Image pretty much burned the roof down with announcements of a bevy of exciting new books, including the surprise appearances of Fraction and Remender to talk their new titles and more from JMS, Doran, Sienkiewicz Brubaker, Millar, Fegredo, Epting, Aaron, Latour and Ward to name a few. They also announced their new kick-ass digital comics policy, which is making things like “Sex Criminals” #2 easy enough to buy worldwide despite not being available on iOS.
Can you even imagine what they’ll announce this time? I don’t know — that Alan Moore is Jesus and he’s writing his biography at Image, I’d guess.
