Image’s 27 #1 Has Already Sold Out – And It’s Not Even Out

Talk about buzz!

Image has a habit of having absolutely amazing sells on their first issues. Chew, Skullkickers and Morning Glories are recent additions to this trend, with famous comics like Walking Dead and Invincible also fitting into this pattern. Now, as reported at Bleeding Cool, it looks like 27 #1 has already sold out – and we’re still two weeks from seeing it.

Originally supposed to come out two weeks ago, the comic had such high pre-orders that I suppose Image has held off in releasing the comic in order to meet demands. A second printing is already in the works as well. The comic, created by Charles Soule and Renzo Podesta, is about musicians who all died at the age of 27, with the main character about to reach the age himself. What makes this comic interesting is that, where the other comics that sold out are all ongoings, 27 is actually a mini. While most Image comics see success in mini or ongoing status, I’m surprised to see a new mini-series sell out this quickly. It won’t be long before we’re hearing that the Infinite Vacation has also sold out entirely for it’s first print.

I guess Image just has the “thing” right now! It’s safe to say that most people see an Image Comic at this point and assume it’ll be fantastic, and at the very least it’ll be worth snatching up to sell on eBay. So look out for 27 #1 in stores the first week of December, and be sure to get to your store early because it’s going to fly off shelves.

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
