In a move that’s almost definitely meant to compete with today’s announcements of Krysten Ritter and Mike Colter as Jessica Jones and Luke Cage as well as Bendover Crossthatch playing Doctor Strange, Ryan Reynolds is officially your new Deadpool.*
*The truth of this statement depends entirely on whether or not you consider X-Men Origins: Wolverine to be an actual movie.
The casting isn’t terribly surprising considering how Reynolds killed it throughout the beginning of Origins, right up until Wade Wilson was turned into a mute final boss with katana arms. And with the leaked test footage for a Deadpool movie featuring him as the voice, it’s clear that Reynolds would make a perfect choice for the Merc with a Mouth so long as he’s allowed to have, you know, a mouth.
Production for Deadpool is set to begin in March under director Tim Miller’s care, who might be best known as the guy who did the visual effects for Scott Pilgrim. The film is set to come on February 12th, 2016, so be sure to keep checking Multiversity as we keep you up-to-date with any news regarding this, and the dozen other casting announcements that seem to be happening this week.
