Sony Pictures Animation have released a second, longer trailer for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, the animated film starring Shameik Moore (Dope, The Get Down) as Miles Morales:
The trailer shows off more of the animation’s hallucinogenic 3D comic book effect, and emphasizes that Miles exists in a universe unlike those of the Spider-Man(s) they may be familiar with, showing more of Jake Johnson (New Girl)’s significantly older looking (and sounding) Peter Parker as Miles’s mentor. We also meet Brian Tyree Henry (Atlanta) as Miles’s father, NYPD member Jefferson Davis.
We also see glimpses of Miles’s uncle Aaron Davis, aka the Prowler (Mahershala Ali), Liev Schreiber’s Kingpin (caught up in an explosion), and an extremely draconic take on the Green Goblin. The trailer concludes by introducing Spider-Gwen, voiced by Hailee Steinfeld (Pitch Perfect 2, Bumblebee), leading Miles to ask if there are more Spider-Man. (If there are, the trailer isn’t letting on, as so far the film seems to borrowing more from Brian Bendis and Sara Pichelli’s “Spider-Men” rather than Dan Slott, Olivier Coipel and Giuseppe Camuncoli’s “Spider-Verse.”)
Sony have also released a new poster for the film:
