The moment all Invincible fans have been waiting for is almost here: The Viltrumite War cometh on March 27th.
For those that aren’t reading it, Image’s Invincible is one of the most fresh and best super hero comics on the market today. Written by Robert Kirkman with art by Ryan Ottley and Fco Plascencia, this title is consistently one of the most well made books out there. Since its earliest issues it has been building to the Viltrumite War, as Invincible and all of his allies in the universe go to combat the Viltrumites.
Compounding the problem is the Viltrumite blood that goes through Invincible’s veins and that the Viltrumites themselves are an endangered species, but that shouldn’t be a problem given how monstrous these people have been so far in the series (see: Conquest and his punchisizing of Atom Eve’s face for free). It should be one of the best arcs of the year for any comic, and if the teaser is any indication, Ryan Ottley’s steadily improving art will take another leap towards the pinnacle of comic artists.
Not only that but February 24th brings us Invincible Returns #1, a one-shot that brings the return of Mark Grayson’s original costume and prepares us for war. Featuring covers by luminaries like Darwyn Cooke (for a look at his cover, click after the jump), David Finch, Erik Larsen and more, this is an important read for all fans of the title.
